Mercredi/ Wednesday 14.11.2012. Santo Domingo

It is today that the SEISAN class starts.
Javier picks up Jens at 8 am to go to San Cristobal, at the Loyola school.
I am not too nervous today. I wash a little, watch the news on the internet, write the blog, take my time and discuss with the lady who cleans the room.
Iris sent me by Javier this morning, a Spanish omelette and a "flan", a kind of pudding. So I eat that for lunch. This is very good, the omelette is moist and the flan well flavoured.
I take a nap and the day has passed.
Jens arrives at around 6 pm, the first day of classes went well. He is tired but works a little and takes a little nap.
At 8 pm, Javier picks us up to go to dinner at their home. They live in a nice apartment on the fifth floor of a large building on the Malecon, by the sea. Behind this building, another five-story building houses the parking. Javier has its parking spot on the fifth floor, just the same as his apartment, but there is no communication between the residential building and the parking building, you have to go down to the ground floor, cross to the apartment building and go up to the fifth floor.
They receive us very nicely. Before dinner, we must pass a test of geological knowledge. Many stones decorate a coffee table and Javier tells us that, to qualify for dinner, we need to name three stones! Jens find a block of salt, I find a tiger eye (I do not know from where I know that!) and Jens finds one more. Phew! We can dine!
Iris has prepared a Mexican meal, with real tortillas and a real good ceviche, plus frijoles, guacamole sauce, etc. A nice assortment of cakes ends the meal. We enjoy the meal and spend a great evening. At around 11 pm, Javier brings us back to the hotel. I forgot to take pictures at their place.
